Tucked away in the mystical Wollombi Valley, Mulla Villa offers you the best of both worlds. This beautiful property presents history dating back to the 1800s with the luxury of today.
An original convict built Magistrate’s Residence for the first Police Magistrate David Dunlop, his wife Eliza Hamilton and their 5 children.
The sandstone constructed house stands high on the left hand side of the main road into Historic Wollombi from Sydney.

Wedding Venue

The existing barn was recently converted to compliment the old grand country elegance of the property to provide a venue for couples looking to celebrate their special day. Now known as Merrindah Weddings & Events, it is still owned and operated by the same new owners of Mulla Villa.

ACCOMMODATION & CAMPING

Stay the night or the entire weekend. Book the campsite or make a reservation and relax in our fresh new cottage that sleeps 5. Sit on the verandah and enjoy the views as you watch the world go by. With 1 queen, 1 double, and 1 single bed, whether you’re a solo traveller or looking to treat your family to a weekend away we can accommodate your needs.

Plan you next group outing to the scenic Hunter Valley. Visit the historic Wollombi village and explore Mulla Villa Farm.

Visit the convict built prison cells that date back to the 1840s. Or, meet our resident farm animals with a hands on feeding experience.

MULLA VILLA

David Dunlop, the Magistrate of Wollombi organised the construction of Mulla Villa in 1840. Built in sandstone by convicts, Mulla Villa was also David's home. It is not known at this stage what he did in the last 16 years of his life

CONVICTS

David was initially popular with the free settlers by improving convict behaviour through his stern disciplinary measures. He was an efficient administrator who involved himself heavily in the affairs of the district.

WOLLOMBI

Wollombi is a small village in the Hunter Region of New South Wales. It is within the Cessnock City Council LGA, situated 29 kilometres southwest of Cessnock and 128 km north of Sydney. To the south is the village of Laguna.

Meet our farm friends

The best way to experience our farm animals is with a hands on feed. Get to know the alpacas, or spend some time with the other animals on the farm.
From paddocks to creek banks, steep hills to rain forests and into the caves our property has plenty of space for you to explore nature.
